The Superabrasive Method

As a result of F2 > > Fn the component distortion is eliminated during machining thus it is possible to actually machine out the inherent bow or waviness of a thin component and machine thin, brittle components to new standards of flatness.

Traditional loose abrasive method: relies on high pressure for machining efficiency, distorting and damaging components as it inefficiently abrades the surface.

Traditional bonded method: tools release large particles of abrasive causing extensive surface and subsurface damage to the component.

Superabrasive technology cuts efficiently with gradual breakdown of abrasive recombining with the tool substrate. Result: Very high concentration of abrasive of small size. The process is thus extremely efficient even at low pressures. Machining is carried out without distortion of the component. Large machining debris and particles are eliminated resulting in a very high quality surface and under formed subsurface layer. Tool life is excellent and edge costs are greatly reduced.

*The chart below shows that material removal rates with Superabrasive process increase at same pressure compared to loose abrasives or achieve similar removal rates at a lesser pressure.
